The Government has chosen to remove the 2026 deadline which it had previously imposed on the formal registration of “new” rights of way, according to this article in the online version of the Daily Telegraph. The news is a relief to many walking groups, including The Enfield Society, as we have a number of paths in the Borough which we wish to see adopted as formal rights of way.
The change of mind by the Government has come after a lengthy campaign by The Ramblers, who estimate that there are over 41,000 miles of footpaths to be formally recorded.
