Better news for the Charity School Hall, Edmonton

Our Hon. Secretary attended a meeting recently with a number of organisations involved with trying to save this historic building. Included were Historic England, the Diocese of London and the Vicar of All Saints Edmonton. The meeting agreed to try and resolve the most pressing problem of the ownership of the property and to have the building correctly registered with the Land Registry. As the Church of England has experience of complex historic property issues, they have kindly agreed to assist. A first step will be to raise funds to cover the legal fees involved and an application to the Heritage Lottery Fund will likely be needed.

The Enfield Society stands ready to provide support for this work and to provide emergency funding to help keep the building dry, as there is serious damage to the roof.

A further meeting is planned for September.
