Two Trustees from the Enfield Society (Alison Yates and John Cole) have arranged for ten businesses in Lancaster Road to have blue plaques made which tell of the past occupants of the sites. The plaques are the work of Simon Warren from Here Before Us, a company based in Folkestone.
Normally the plaques cost £75, but the Society funded all ten itself, though it is hoped some contributions will be made now that businesses can see the final product. Traders have already reported increased foot-fall as a result. The Society is now going to consider further plaques in other parts of the Borough.
The plaques can be found on the following establishments, with the numbers corresponding to the map below:
- Nisa
- The Laurels
- Street Kidz
- Boho Flo
- Capital Lock and Safe
- Primitive Butchers
- James Whitaker Hairdressers
- The Tanning Room
- Atkinson’s Estate Agents
- The Hop Poles pub
