Society volunteers celebrate 200 years of rail history with cakes

Railway 200 is a year-long nationwide celebration of 200 years of the modern railway as the Stockton & Darlington Railway opened on 27th September 1825. One of its aims is to inspire a new generation of young pioneering talent to choose a career in the rail industry. It invites community, rail and other groups to get involved.

The Friends of Gordon Hill Station (part of The Enfield Society) gave away 200 small cakes to early morning travelers on the Friday 4th April. The date was also the 115th anniversary of the opening of the Station on 4th April 1910, when the Cuffley extension was opened with its new stations; Grange Park, Enfield, Gordon Hill, Crews Hill and Cuffley.
