Dates announced for spring tree planting on Enfield Chase

The Council and the Friends of Enfield Chase have announced a series of dates for tree planting this year at New Cottage Farm, The Ridgeway, Enfield, EN6 5QT.

The dates will be:
January: Tue 28th & Wed 29th
February: Sat 1st, Tue 4th, Tue 11th, Fri 14th, Tue 18th, Sat 22nd & Mon 24th.

Twenty places are available each day and booking is required (but free). To book places please complete the form available here: https://book.plinth.org.uk/e/6pepFUM9xb6HaBXTBDNE

Join us for the continuation of the woodland creation at Enfield Chase. We aim to increase local biodiversity, create a wildlife corridor and shelterbelt along the M25. If you missed previous planting events and would like to know more we would recommend speaking to a member of the local volunteer group, ‘Friends Of Enfield Chase’ – on Facebook.

The task will be to plant a mixture of native tree saplings. No experience is necessary but planting trees requires a good level physical fitness, walking in wellington boots and bending to perform gardening-type tasks. Wellies, gloves and spades provided!

These events are open to the public, so come along and help London breathe for the future, take an active part in the restoration of our woodland habitats, meet like minded people, experience the beautiful outdoors, see some rarer wildlife and speak with knowledgeable staff who can provide insight into the project and how you can get involved.

We will provide teas, coffees and biscuits to all our volunteers. Please bring water and something to eat for lunch (as there are no shops nearby). There will be a toilet available on site for volunteer use. Please also dress suitably for the weather!

An induction briefing and a health and safety talk will be given at the start of every event. Parking is available for signed up volunteers at the farm for the duration of the event. A staff member or a member of Enfield Council staff will direct you at the farm.

Location: New Cottage Farm, The Ridgeway, Enfield, EN6 5QT (North end of the A1005, and to the left of entrance to St. John’s Preparatory & Nursery School). Down the single-track road all the way to the bottom. This bares to the right of a house, then it’s 100 meters or so to the farm entrance. We will meet in the farm yard, where there will be a Portaloo.

By Car: Please drive through the double gates and make your way to the farm. This is an operational farm yard, so please do not park anywhere else along the track.

By Bus: The 313 stop at ‘New Cottage Farm’, just West from Chase Farm Hospital. Then it’s a short walk North to the New cottage farm yard’s.

By Train: Enfield Chase station is nearly 4 miles away and Gordon Hill station is 3.5 miles away, served by GreatNorthernRail.

By Bicycle: Well done! The best environmentally friendly approach. You might be quite tired on the way home though.

Please note the google link shows St John’s School the turning is next to the school for new cottage farm
