The long awaited Local Plan for Enfield, which shapes the Borough’s development until 2041, has now been published. You can find a copy at enfield.gov.uk/services/planning/new-enfield-local-plan
We have skimmed through the document and we can report the following variations and points of concern compared to the 2021 Regulation 18 draft:
- Chase Park (Vicarage Farm) is on a reduced footprint, but development to start immediately the Plan is approved,
- the proposals for Crews Hill are retained, with development smaller than previously suggested, also starting immediately the Plan is approved,
- Palace Gardens is included with 329 dwellings and a 39m (13 storey) tower block,
- Meridian Water East Bank now has 815 dwellings, ten years after Plan approval,
- The Hadley Wood Green Belt site is included for 160 homes, after ten years from the Plan’s approval,
- A logistics park on land East of Junction 24 is still included in the Plan.
On 6 March 2024, the Full Council will meet to go over an extensive draft of the Local Plan. Subject to Full Council’s approval, the draft would then be published for a formal statutory 6-week period of public consultation, as required by law. Following the conclusion of this consultation, all responses received, (along with the draft Local Plan and its supporting evidence base), will be submitted to the Secretary of State for an independent examination.
We will be working on more detailed analysis of the Plan and what it means foe Enfield in the coming days.
