Local novelist Tessa Harris is researching for her latest historical novel (to be published by Harper Collins) which will be set mainly in Trent Park during WW2. The story centres around an ATS officer stationed there, but Tessa is having trouble finding out where she would have slept.
Having read extensively on the subject, she is finding it hard to discover anything about the accommodation arrangements for officers working on site. There was a cottage in the grounds which was an officer’s mess, but Tessa really needs to know where the female ATS officers were accommodated.
Perhaps they were billeted nearby, but if so there aren’t any records.
Any help about the ‘social aspects’ of life at Trent Park would be most appreciated. If you should know anything about this, please e-mail Tessa directly.
