Enfield Council set to approve Southgate Office Village?

The Council have published the papers for the next Planning Committee on 23rd June. The recommendation from the Officers to the Committee (page 9 of the papers) is to approve the planning application, subject to a number of conditions.

This is a controversial scheme which The Enfield Society has objected to. Our objections to the application are on the grounds that it is on a hill and will dominate the view across a wide area, that it will overshadow surrounding residential properties and that it will dominate the Grade II Listed Holden tube station.

Southgate District Civic Voice (SDCV) has invested considerable energy in fighting the proposal, including commissioning local consultation and an independent financial viability that demonstrates that the developer could make a profit with a much lower residential building. That document has been sent to all members of Planning Committee and The Society provided financial support to SDCV to fight the proposal.

The planning committee is open to the public. This is a ‘virtual meeting’ via Microsoft Teams, starting at 7.30pm.
