Walk: From Rags to Riches

02 July

Depart 10.30 from Bethnal Green Underground Station on the Central Line (not from the London Overground Weaver Line Bethnal Green Station which is a 10 minutes walk from the start!).

A 4½ mile linear walk exploring the changes in wealth and property development over the last couple of centuries. These are shown by various examples including the opening of Bethnal Green Museum by the V&A in 1872 and the creation of Victoria Park to rival the parks in the West End of London.

The route will include part of the Olympic Park area and the River Lea before ending at Hackney Wick Station for return trains to Highbury & Islington station. Shorter options. Bring lunch or food available. Leader: Ian Reynolds.

Our walks are free to members. Non-members thinking of joining the Society are welcome. Please make yourself known to the Walk Leader at the start.
