Talk: Newbury Football Club by Avril Nanton
17-Mar-2025 at 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Avril Nanton, Director of Avril’s Walks and Talks, will tell the tale of a little known but massively important local football squad that made waves in the Black community. The club, Newbury Football Club, were the only all Black youth team in Enfield. In 2024 Eastenders actor Rudolph Walker made a film about the club called “When Newbury Ruled” which looked at the lasting impact the team had at the time.
Talks are free to Enfield Society members. Non-members welcome for £1 each, payable to the Hall. No need to book.
