Traveller Local Plan: some detail

This is important in terms of the main Local Plan now at Examination phase and Green Belt with the key points being set out below;

The Regulation 18 Draft Traveller Local Plan identifies five sites to meet the need, maps of which are in Appendix D, see Traveller-local-plan-reg-18-part-2-draft-plan-Sept-2024-Planning.pdf

In particular we note the following:

  • Land Adjacent to the Ridgeway (owned by LBE, 1.095 hectares, estimated capacity for 22 pitches in years 0-5). Large site, well screened by hedges but the tops of the caravans will be visible across the countryside,
  • Bulls Cross Nursery (owned by LBE, 0.48ha, estimated capacity for 10 pitches in years 1-5). In the Forty Hall Conservation Area but set back from the street and likely low impact.
  • Land at A10 adjacent to the skate park and Edmonton Cemetery, owned by LBE, 0.17hectares, 6 pitches, years 0-5. Outside the Locally Listed cemetery boundary but could appear in some views of the (unlisted) chapel of rest and on the boundary of locally listed Cemetery House,
  • Chase Park (unspecified location, 10+ pitches in years 10+),
  • Crews Hill (unspecified location, 10+ pitches in years 10+).
