The Town, looking west
On the left, beyond the George Inn, is Enfield House, advertised as "Wm. LOCK, GENERAL DRAPER". This business was taken over by Pearson Brothers in May 1902, but Wm. Lock's name remains in another picture dated 1908. Barclays Bank, on the right, was opened in 1898. The round lamp on top of the fountain may help to date the picture.
