Market place and the Rialto, 1923.

The cinema shows advertisements for "Arabian nights" and "Garrisons finish" a film made in 1923 subtitled "Winning life's handicap", a race track drama in 3 reels from the popular novel by W.B.M Ferguson.
The Rialto was built in 1920. The cost of the building was so high that the owners were declared bankrupt in 1925. The building was later used as a bingo hall, and was demolished in 2011. In the Market Place next to the Rialto was the shop of Leapman, a clothier, next door was Henry Smith, a confectioner who sold teas and ices, the the Gas Company's showrooms. - History of Enfield vol.3, p230.
