Assembly Rooms, behind the King's Head

Also known as the "Old Coffee House". The Enfield Assembly was a function, held every other Monday during the season, which was an important part of the social life of the better class of people in 18th century Enfield. There was a Long Room, a Club Room and a Bowls room, and there was dancing in the summer and cards in the winter. It was demolished in about 1938 to make way for an extension of the Grammar School. - History of Enfield, vol.1, p.244 and vol.3, p.265.
