Clarendon Arch, Bush Hill
Bult in 1786, the arch ring of Portland stone bears a fine shield of arms with mantling helm and the crest of Myddelton, and the inscription "This arch is at the end of a long, barrel-vaulted brick tunnel which carries the Salmons Brook beneath the New River". Above the north-west side of the tunnel is a stone with the inscription: "This bank of earth was raised and formed to support the Channel of the New River. And the frame of timber and lead which served that purpose 173 years was removed and taken away. MDCCLXXXVI Peter Holford, Esquire, Governor". - [i]Treasures of Enfield[/i], p.119.
