Pennyfathers Cottage, Parsonage Lane
The Pennyfather family farmed hereabouts, Enfield and Cheshunt, for many generations since Tudor times and were willing, when the opportunity arose, to turn their hands to more dubious means of making a living. An account by David Pam of John Pennyfather and his son being accused of stealing partridges is given in an extract from the Enfield Gazette, 23rd March 2006, reprinted in the Pennyfather newsletter, no.3 page 4. (We have no evidence that this cottage was owned by the same person.)
