Christ Church exhibition “Image Dei”

15-Apr-2019 – 21-Apr-2019 all-day
Christ Church
Chase Side

During Holy Week (15th to 21st April) Christ Church United Reformed Church in Chase Side will be open daily for an exhibition entitled “Imago Dei”. The exhibition will include poetry, music and art around this theme and is a community event.

There will also be a display about the history and architecture of the grade II Victorian gothic church built 1874–5. In the Christian religion, the imago dei (Latin for “the image of God”) refers to the unique imprint God placed upon humanity, identifying people as a special creation. What the “image of God” precisely is, and what it implies, has been debated throughout history and is answered differently by various Christian denominations.

The exhibition focuses on images of God plus images of humanity e.g. refugees, people from various parts of the world including our own.

The exhibition will be open from 10 am to 4pm every day from Monday 15th April to Saturday 20th April (1pm to 4pm only on Good Friday, 19th April) and is free. Refreshments will be available every day. Guided tours of the building will also be available at various times during the week.
