Laing's Garage: old barn and stables
The old house and stables at the end of the yard, which ran west to east. Note the dovecote at the west end, high up in the gable. At the time of demolition this building was reputed to be well over 300 years old. It was surveyed with the intention of taking it down and re-erecting it on another site, but it was found to be in too bad a condition. The survey found some rafters with original carpenters' marks, indicating re-used timbers of considerable age and quality. There was at one time a wooden stairway to the entrance at the first floor on the right.
