Allen Fairhead & Son, builders and contractors Offices and works. They also had a large yard between Cecil Road and Palace Gardens, with an entrance from Cecil Road nearly opposite Raleigh Road. The business collapsed owing to bad management. When the Borough took over the yard it was made into a car park until the Palace Gardens precinct scheme was ready to start in April 1980.
