An early to mid 18th century house of two storeys with attic and dormers set in a tiled gambrel roof, with stone-coped gable ends and parapet and side pilasters. A central round window sits above a cornice hood with a modern reeded door surround. No. 174 comprises the bulk of the house, while no. 172 includes a smaller part and the late 19th century shop with weatherboarded side. - Treasures of Enfield, page 94.
