Bush Hill Park
Inscribed "View of the seat of Joseph Mellish Esqr. near Enfield in Middlesex / Engraved for the Modern Universal British Traveller". The house stood immediately to the east of Bush Hill on a site now occupied by Ringmer Close. The property, known as the Clock House in its later years, was demolished in 1926. The estate was very extensive, ranging from Lincoln Road in the north to Bury Street in the south. Most of the land was sold for building in 1871. The main feature of the grounds was the New River, which widened out into a lake behind the house. The Mellish family owned the property for many years. William Mellish (died 1838) was Tory MP for MIddlesex. The family originated from Nottinghamshire, where they owned property at Blyth.
