Rufus Barnes unveiling centenary plaque at Gordon Hill station
To mark the 100th anniversary of the extension of the GN route from Enfield Chase to Cuffley, First Capital Connect named a Class 313 train in honour of Captain William Leefe Robinson in recognition of his part of the area’s history, when he shot down a German airship over Cuffley during the First World War in 1916.

As part of the celebrations, Rufus Barnes, former Chief Executive of London Travel Watch, unveiled a commemorative plaque donated by The Enfield Society at Gordon Hill ticket hall.

Neal Lawson, Managing Director of FCC said: "It was great to see so many people attend the event and recognise a fine history on this part of the railway. This emphasises how important our railway has been and will continue to be to the local community. We are committed to deliver the next chapters of this railway's history with extra services from December and for the longer term through the Thameslink Programme."
