F. H. Harris, smith and farrier
Harris the blacksmith was situated between the back of what was later Freeman's the bakers (1980) and Gas House Lane, Sydney Road, and was certainly in business in 1895. Later it is thought that the smithy was taken over by Fullers the ironmongers who had a shop at the corner of Silver Street and the Town for many years. The notice reads: "F. HARRIS / SMITH AND FARRIER / LOCKSMITH BELL HANGER GASFITTER / MACHINERY AND FARM IMPLEMENTS REPAIRED"
